Tier 4 – Update 31/12/20

HOUGHTON LE SPRING GOLF CLUB – PLAY SAFE-STAY SAFE

Latest Update for Members 31.12.20

After announcements made by government yesterday, members will now be aware that our region has today been placed into Tier 4 restrictions to help combat the spread of coronavirus. The clubs Covid 19 sub-committee convened at 9.00am this morning to discuss what actions we, as a club, will take to ensure we comply with these new restrictions while at the same time endeavour to ensure all our members have the opportunity to continue playing golf as much as possible and until these new restrictions are relaxed.

Following the meeting the club can now confirm that:

  • Play will be allowed in a maximum of two balls, either non-household, same household, or support bubble. Members only. On-line booking only.

  • To maximise on course playing capacity for all its members rounds will be played over 9 holes only. Two nine-hole courses will be available for play.

  • Course A being holes 1 to 6, 16,17 and 18.

  • Course B being holes 7 to 15.

  • Members will be able to play one nine-hole round per day.  Continuing play beyond the 9 holes booked is not permitted nor is hole jumping to holes not within 9 hole course booked.

  • All club competitions will be suspended until further notice.

Current Police and Fire Brigade booking procedures will remain unchanged.

Locker rooms will be open for storage of equipment only and use of toilets.

The clubhouse will remain closed. Takeaway meal service will be available during stated hours.

Hire buggies, weather permitting, will be single use only unless shared by members from the same household or support bubble.

The club shop will be staffed to manage bookings and the 1st and 7th tees, but the sale of shop items will not be permitted.

All current club Play Safe – Stay Safe rules and procedures will continue to apply. Members are reminded not to arrive at the club more than 20 minutes prior to their tee time.

Weather permitting play will resume on Saturday 2nd January 2021. This will allow the time needed to set up the BRS on-line booking system required to manage the new playing procedures.

Booking Instructions

  • On-line booking will be opened from 6.00pm on Friday 1st January and will cover the 7-day period between Saturday 2nd January and Friday 8th January. Following that the normal 7-day rolling booking period will resume.

As during previous severe periods of restriction, the committee will maintain a frequent review of all the new procedures. We will also continue to listen to member feedback which will help us during this next difficult stage.

Members who have not done so already are encouraged to activate their Intelligent Golf account for all club updates. Emails with instructions were sent on 04/11/20.

The club committee thanks you all again for your loyalty, resilience, and support throughout 2020. Let us hope this new period of restriction is as short as possible and together we can ensure Houghton Golf Club have a successful 2021.

Finally, the committee wish you and families a safe and Happy New Year.
