HLSGC – Play Safe Stay Safe Update 30/05/20

HOUGHTON LE SPRING GOLF CLUB – PLAY SAFE-STAY SAFE

Latest Update for Members 30.05.20

At the latest meeting, held on Saturday 30th May at 10.00am, the Covid 19 Sub Committee had much to consider, and particularly following England Golf’s announcement that as from the 1st June 2020 that groupings of either 3 or 4 balls comprising of members from the same or different households will be allowed. This news is welcomed by all golf clubs.

Therefore, Houghton le Spring Golf Club can confirm as from Monday 1st June 2020 they will be allowing 3 and 4 ball groupings, at 10-minute intervals, to play in line with England Golf’s guidelines. This will greatly enhance the volume of tee times available to our members.

The Committee in its previous update stated that ‘the club are constantly reviewing the club’s financial position and the importance of the club having to begin opening revenue streams to secure the long-term future of the club’. The committee have again reviewed its position on the need to allow member guests and visitors to return to enjoy playing our course. After considering the new relaxations described above the Committee now feel the time is right and necessary to allow paying member guests and visitors to return.

Therefore, from Monday 1st June 2020 existing members will be allowed to bring 1 paying guest per day. This can be booked using the current on-line BRS booking system and rules, and by telephone bookings from 8.00am on the day of play. Visitors will be allowed to make a booking for any remaining tee times from 9.00am on the day of play and by BRS or telephone.  Weekend restrictions are removed subject to tee times being reserved for any competitions announced in  due course. Full details can be found here….(Updated Booking Guidance from 01/06/2020)

The Committee will continue to review, and monitor the changes brought in as we enter week 4 of the PLAY SAFE-STAY SAFE period. Your constructive feedback will also be welcomed during this time as it has and does effect change.

Finally, we hope members have been able to get their ‘golfing fix’ over the last 3 weeks since the lockdown golfing restrictions have been slowly lifted. We would again ask all members to show consideration to each other while also extending a warm welcome to our future guests and visitors.

Thank you,

John Walvin (Chairman) on behalf of The Committee.
