HLSGC – PLAY SAFE-STAY SAFE

Request for Volunteers

In our last update the Committee informed members that the club are beginning to plan and prepare for the day it is safe for golf to return to Houghton le Spring Golf Club.

While we still do not have an official return date part of our plans include the use of volunteers, both current and/or new. The committee believe this will be crucial in supporting and helping existing staff when elements of the lockdown begin to be lifted, and to help us manage any limits or restrictions imposed upon us by the government and/or England Golf.

Volunteer roles will initially include but may not be limited to:

  • Club Shop cover during agreed opening hours;
  • On course marshalling;
  • Car Park marshalling;

It is our hope we can open the course as long as possible each day, up until 9pm, but this will only be possible if we have the volunteers to ensure all roles are covered and a suitable system to open and lock the premises which does not over burden the limited keyholders can be found.

The club will develop specific job roles which outline responsibilities, time commitment and provide any necessary training applicable. Personal protective equipment will be provided when required.

If you are interested and feel you could give up some of your personal time, and would like to be part of the volunteering team at the club during what will be a challenging period, please can you contact the club, leaving a contact phone number, by either directly messaging us through this link or by email using houghton.golf@btconnect.com.  Please also indicate if you are willing to provide assistance during the evening period.

Thank you.
