Captain’s Lockdown Distance Challenge

Day 5 Answer 

 

 

The final day’s challenge saw some interesting guesses ranging from 67 – 224 yards !!!  But the higher ones were the closest to the mark.

Day 5 again goes to a tie break with both Graham Dodd and Emily Baxter both guessing to a yard away with 205 yards.

Tie break :

Graham guessed 78 tees in the glass.

Emily guessed 26 tees in the glass…………………

So its congratulations to ex member Graham Dodd who wins a 2 ball voucher .

However all is not lost for Emily Baxter , our 2020 Junior Captain, as closest member she wins the first tee to re-open the course with a four ball of her choice.

Thankyou for all of you who took part over the last week.   Hopefully it helped with the lockdown and gave you a reminder as to what we’re all so keen to get back to once we re-open.

Day 4 Answer & Day 5 Challenge 

Day 4 Answer

Day 4’s challenge had a dramatic  twist (relatively) with the final entry late last night as HLSGC member Tony Nelson saved the best guess till last with his answer of 117 yards (PW) winning the prize .  Congratulations Tony you’ll have exclusive use of the ‘Pro’ parking spot for one month from the date of re-opening.

Day 5 and final Challenge 

Open to members and non members. The final day prizes are a  2 ball voucher for non members. For members  the winner will  hit the first shot to  officially reopen the course with the first tee time booked for them along with 3 fellow members of their choice. 

Simply guess the yardage to the flag from different positions on our course shown on the photograph. Its free to enter !!

All distances have been measured and only the Greens Chairman and The Competition Secretary know the answer.

Note.. The colour of the  flags are red but  have no relevance to the part of the green they are on. 

For a bit of fun you can also tell us which club you would take for that shot .

Day 3 Answer & Day 4 Challenge 

 

Day 3 Answer

 

Day 3’s challenge, with over 60 entries, saw 3 hawk eyed competitors hit the nail on the head with  115 yards!

Neil Fowler, David Richardson and Pauline Baxter all guessing correctly…..

….So it all boils down to the Tie breaker.

Neil Fowler guessed 80 balls

David Richardson guessed 101 balls

Pauline Baxter guessed 71 balls

Congratulations to HLSGC member Andy Edmondson who was nearest the correct answer with his guess of 156  yards choosing his  8 iron to get a yard away from the flag.  Well done Andy you win a voucher for 3 guests to play HLSGC with you .
